Helen’s distinctive collections of handmade decorative pillows and fashion tote bags, offer a uniquely thematic design approach in the use of tribal hand-woven textiles for contemporary décor and fashion. With a quiet sophistication, Helen pares down the ‘ethnicity’ of her designs, with a minimalist application of world tribal weavings, so that the integrity of their textures and colors, set off by neutral woven backgrounds, are brought to their full brilliance.

Textile ArtHer exquisite sense of color harmony is utilized in a thematic manner that can evoke the essence of many traditional cultures of lands afar.

The ‘Loom of Africa’ series offers a quiet palette of pale and dark neutral hues, whereas the ‘Loom of Maya’ series offers a radiant palette of cool and warm colors, set off against a neutral background of paler linen hues.

The color palettes of the decorative bands used as accents in her designs are developed in the lands that are rich in their weaving traditions, where they are custom woven by tribal weavers of Saharan West Africa and traditional Mayan weavers of Guatemala.

All collections are hand sewn with fine couture quality tailoring, in a cottage industry setting in her California design studio.

Pillow covers have zipper-less envelope closures, and are removable from their waterfowl down inserts, available in a variety of eleven sizes and shapes.
Textile ArtThe double-strap shoulder tote bags are fully lined in cotton, with a couture finish inside and out. As a fashion accessory, they serve a variety of purposes and are also designed to accommodate laptops, cell-phones and other tech devices, each having a double front pocket and a smaller interior pocket.

The pillow collections and tote bags are both made from the same organic materials and both share the same color theme collections that are presented here.

Due to delicate nature of the hand-loomed and natural-dyed fibres it is recommended that all items in these collections be dry-cleaned and not allowed to soak in water.
